Knauer CSEP C9116 Pilot Scale System

The pilot scale SMB system CSEP C9116 allows you to use up to 16 identical (semi-) preparative columns for continuous production. 64 ports are located in a multi function valve consisting of a rotor and a stator with 32 ports each. The ports are connected in pairs. The compact construction of the whole Simulated Moving Bed unit causes a drastically reduced dead volume and much less maintenance compared to other SMB technologies using more valves and pumps.

The valve being the center piece of the system consists of Hastelloy, is equipped with 1/16″ connections, and is pressure resistant up to 50/100 bar while rotating, depending of spring configuration. In considering this value and a maximal totla column weight of 20 kg, a set of 4, 8, 12 or 16 columns with various dimensions can be selected applying classical 4-zone SMB or other configurations. The upper column limits are 16 mm in diameter and 300 mm in length, respectively.
